Too much to do

 (by bob with help)

The butterfly fluttered, the bee buzzed, the rose bloomed

Unnoticed as mankind down their roads thoughtlessly zoomed

The tree grew, the eagle flew, and the squirrel did an acorn chew

Unnoticed as mankind chatted their phone ‘bout too much to do

The river flowed, the fish swam, and the beaver build a dam

Unnoticed as mankind typed their computers bout the use of spam

A child cried, a teenager lied, a parent tried, a grandparent died

Unnoticed as mankind plans their online community about how they may best hide

A tank clattered, a rifle blasted, a bomb dropped, dead bodies collapse

Unnoticed as mankind prepares their war zones all across the earth’s maps

Mother Nature gradually polluted and depleted expresses anger with dignity

Unnoticed as mankind blindly becomes their own worst ever growing enemy

Oh there’s not enough time, life’s too short, there’s too much to do, everything falls behind

Unnoticed as mankind persistently pursues stressed life with their unsatisfied mind

Oh so sad it must be that painful efforts to honestly better the cluttered path of humanity

Go unnoticed as mankind ignores kindness of needy in search of personal vanity.

Stop and be kind

By bob

Today I looked from my faded tinted window out back into a life gone so quickly

And saw a crying sky with a lightening crack that suddenly left me feeling sickly

As I felt a thunderous boom shake my room of precious memories left behind

Then I knew I lived my life never truly enjoying Nature’s gift of steadily passing time

Sure persistently climbing the ladder of my popular business career deeply felt so dear

And accumulating ever growing wealth helped overcome a sense of social fear

But then life was too busy to give family and friends a needed uplifting smile

They so often felt, the pressure from me, that they failed to run their best mile

As from my lofty social position I looked down on Main Street and saw poverty soar

So many in need of a friend with a helping hand did I too often thoughtlessly ignore

And even though I helped to relieve many business pains as well as enjoy local fame

My money neither buys back a youth grown old nor a final chance to undo shame

Nor does it cure harm of taking more than needed to seek an elusive satisfied mind

Oh world, wherever you trod, think of God, and take the time to everyone be kind.

The treasures I’ve gathered along life’s way
Were neither gold or silver
I could not place a price on them
They are too precious to be sold

It was that smile and little sigh
The handshakes that were given
Gave me more than money could buy
And they made my life worth living

So when one counts his treasures
I’m richer from the start
Because I have these precious gifts
Stored deep within my heart

Begin the day with friendliness
and only friends you’ll find
Yes, greet the dawn with happiness;
Keep happy thoughts in mind.

Salute the day with peaceful thoughts,
And peace will fill your heart;
Begin the day with joyful soul,
And joy will be your part.

Begin the day with friendliness;
Keep friendly all day long
Keep in your soul a friendly thought,
Your heart a friendly song.

Have in your mind a word of cheer
For all who come your way,
And they will bless you too, in turn,
And wish you, “Have a happy day!”

Begin each day with happy thoughts,
And as the day goes on,
Keep friendly, loving, good and kind,
Just as you were at dawn.

The day will be a friendly one,
And then at night you’ll find
That you were happy all day long
Through friendly thoughts in mind.
